Most people love a good RomCom – they put you in a good mood, they make you laugh and they may even make you shed a few tears, while still being an easy watch on a friday night after a long day.
If you are absolutely lost on which RomCom to watch – which is understandable since the list of them seems never ending, then you’ve come to the right place! In this blog I’ll share a few of my personal favorite RomComs of all time with you, and hopefully help you have the best movie night ever.
10 things I hate about you

My absolute favorite RomCom will forever be the iconic “teenage movie” from 1999, 10 things I hate About You. This modernized version of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the shrew”, will forever have a special place in my heart.
The story revolves around a group of teenagers from high school experiencing their first love. At first we are met with Cameron, the slightly awkward new kid, who within the first hour at his new school, falls badly in love with the beautiful and popular Bianca. He’s determined to ask her out on a date, but there’s only one problem: Bianca is not allowed to date – at least not before her man-hating, older sister, Kat (the shrew), starts dating. Cameron then makes it his purpose to make the rebellious older sister date, but he finds that not a single person in school can be bribed to date her. Well no one except the terrifying bad boy, Patrick, who thinks taking out “some chick” for money, sounds like an easy way to make some bucks.
Starring Heath Ledger (Patrick), Julia Stiles (Kat), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cameron) and Larisa Oleynik (Bianca).
Scott pilgrim vs. the world

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is one of the most iconic romantic comedies from the 2010’s – and for a good reason. This is a hilarious movie, I love to watch whenever I need a good laugh – and with great music as well.
This is a movie with a wide range, as it is perfect for the RomCom lovers as well as for the more nerdy people, who love comics and videogames. Which means it’ll be easy to persuade your romance-hating little brother to watch it with you.
The movie is based on the comic books “Scott Pilgrim” by Bryan Lee O’Malley, and is about a music loving young adult, called Scott Pilgrim, who starts liking the edgy, amazon-delivery girl, Ramona Flowers. But before he can start dating her, he needs to defeat her seven evil exes one by one. It sounds absurd – and it really is, but it’s also guaranteed to make you laugh! If you haven’t already I really recommend you go watch it as soon as you get the opportunity.
Starring: Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowes) and Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells).
How to lose a guy in ten days

How to lose a guy in ten days is definitely one of the funniest and sweetest romcoms out there in my opinion – although the second hand embarrassment you get from this movie is real! The movie is from 2003 and has been iconic ever since then. If you haven’t already seen this movie, you have at least most probably heard Andie’s cover on Your so vain on your TikTok FYP.
The movie is about Andie Anderson, a great journalist, who is about to write an article about how to lose a guy in 10 days – and of course she needs to test her theories on a real person. Benjamin is challenged by his co-workers to make a girl fall in love with him before a big campaign.
They find each other to be perfect for their experiment, and start dating, both oblivious to the other’s ulterior motives.
Starring: Kate Hudson (Andie Anderson), Matthew McConaughey (Benjamin Barry), Kathryn Hahn (Michelle Rueben).
Notting Hill

If you have a celebrity crush, but think you have absolutely no chance of being with them, this movie is perfect for you, as it might give you some hope, or at least feed your delusions. The movie Notting Hill from 1999 is ranking number one on countless of people’s top 5 romance movies, because of its great story, funny and relatable characters as well as its great message about how love can happen across social status.
The movie is about a young bookseller, called William, from London, who meets the famous American actor Anna Scott, who one day enters his small shop. Later he runs into her again, this time on the street, and accidentally spills orange juice on her. He invites her over, to let her change, and this is when the love begins to blossom between them. But their completely different lives, makes their love affair way more complicated, than they could have ever imagined. The fact that the entire world is watching them at the same time, doesn’t really help.
Starring: Hugh Grant (William Thacker) and Julia Roberts (Anna Scott)
